TdB 2014 is another blast!

The Tour de Burgos 2014 mountain bike cross-country race has been another blast! More than 80 cyclists from Montalban and nearby towns and provinces competed on the four race categories.

The race circuit is 2.1 kilometers long, which is a combination of cemented roads, single tracks and pits. The pits served as the most challenging part of the track, with six drops and climbs.

After a short program, the race was started by the Beginners Category, followed by the 40 Years Old and Over Category, then the 29 Years Old and Under Category, and finally the 30-39 Years Old Category.

It was in the pits that majority of the viewers stayed, watching how the participants struggled against the drops and climbs.

The race served as a fitting opening salvo for Bgy. Burgos' fiesta the next day.

Two participants received minor injuries during the race.

Kagawad Arnold Rivera and Kagawad Amang Torres, who also watched the races, led in awarding the winners their trophies and medals.

Tour de Burgos MTB XC race on February 2

The Tour de Burgos MTB XC race, in its 11th continuous year, will be held in Sorrento Village, Burgos, Rodriguez, Rizal - same venue as last year - on February 2. We invite all bikers to join us in this race, and help celebrate the fiesta of Bgy. Burgos.

10th Tour de Burgos MTB XC Race to be held on February 3

As part of the celebrations for the fiesta of Bgy. Burgos, Rodriguez, Rizal, the 10th Tour de Burgos MTB Cross-Country Cycling Race will be held on February 3. Location will be announced later.

There will be four (4) race categories: Beginners, 18-25 YO, 26-35 YO, and 36 YO and over.

The Dela Costa Homeowners' fun cycling race was held yesterday amid continuous drizzle. Managed by the Montalban Cycling Club, more than 40 participants joined the three category events held. All got wet and muddy, but completed the races, nevertheless.

It had been a fantastic race! This year's Tour de Burgos mountain bike race is better attended by more cyclists than last year. It also has more participants compared to last year.

The race started at 9AM, and lasted up to 1:30PM. As planned, participants competed on three categories, but instead of giving prizes only to the top three winners, we were able to honored the fourth to tenth placers with medals. The Sangguniang Kabataan of Bgy. Burgos provided us with medals, aside from trophies.

Owing to the changes made by New Apec developers to Sorrento Village, the race area, we were able to further lengthen the race circuit to 1.8 kilometers. This made the race route longer than last year.

This year's race area was more challenging than the last, with four contiguous drops and climbs, in short distances from each other. This was where most viewers watched the race. Video above shows this area.

Kabalikat Civicom in Rodriguez also graciously provided us with superb marshaling and medical support, even at short notice.

1st cycling challenge in Bgy. San Jose

Dubbed "Padyakan para sa Manggagawa", the first ever cycling challenge in Bgy. San Jose, Rodriguez, Rizal was held at the San Jose oval last April 25, 2010. More than 50 mountain bikers and road cyclists joined the three race categories held.

The race was combined with lap winners every decade round. This created excitement in the race, where there were lap races within the whole race.

The winners, in winning order, are:

Open non-pro mountain bike race: Rex Cortez, Alfredo Rivera, and Angelito Linogo. All decade lap races were won by Rex Cortez.

Class C road bike race: Danny Sison, Ian Palolo, and Jerome Diesta. Decade lap winners are Felix Gabang, Ian Palolo, and Januario Divinaflor.

Class B road bike race: Jan Paul Morales, Dante Cagas, and Michael Pili. Decade lap winners are Dino Hipolito, Rolly Villamor (twice), and Rex Cortez (twice).

This activity served as the kick-off event of the week-long festivities in honor of St. John, the patron saint of Bgy. San Jose, on May 1.

The Montalban Cycling Club organized this event in cooperation with Bgy. Capt. Roger Frias and RF Team.

Latest race a success

The 7th Tour de Burgos was a success. The race was joined by many cyclists coming from as far as Pampanga. Although the race started late at 10AM, all races were finished by 3PM.

MCC cut short the race track due to an unexpected event the day before the race. A part of the irrigation canal was opened, flooding part of the track to an inches-deep mud. After trying unsuccessfully to navigate in these mud, it was just decided to exclude the affected part from the track.

7th Tour de Burgos mountain bike race on January 31st

The Montalban Cycling Club invites mountain bikers to again join its annual mountain bike race this January 31. This race will be held in Bgy. Burgos, Rodriguez (Montalban), Rizal, from 7am onwards, in the same place where last year's race was held.

Categories of the race will be Beginners, Class C, and Class B. Depending on the outcome of some negotiations, MCC may still add more categories during the race.

The more than two-kilometer race track is undergoing initial phase of housing development. So the terrain is generally rough, with loose soil in some places, and with some jumps and ascents. The track still presents technical challenges to participants.

This race, seventh in the same number of years, is held by the MCC as part of Bgy. Burgos' fiesta.

Directional arrows will be posted to guide participants starting from Montaña Village (Bgy. Burgos, Montalban) going to the race site.

Registration is pegged at P150.00 per participant, and will include lunch. Registration will be done on site.

6th Tour de Burgos a Success!

Yesterday's MTB offroad race was a success!

More than a hundred bikers and enthusiasts came to watch the game, and around 70 bikers joined this challenging, technical race.

Among the challenging parts of the course is the double climb, the second climb short but steep. Many unashamedly pushed their bikes up this second climb.

There is also the 10-foot drop that immediately turned upon reaching the bottom. Many watchers positioned themselves here, also feeling the rush the bikers fast going down.

There are also the many jumps around the track owing to the pilapil of this dry rice field. One particularly nasty drop caused at least two spills.

Then, as this is a dry rice field where the land is uneven and broken, bikes vibrated and riders were jarred throughout the race.

Overall, MTB riders enjoyed the toughness of the course.

6th Tour de Burgos (An MTB off-road challenge)

The Montalban Cycling Club (MCC) invites everyone to join its 6th Tour de Burgos on February 1, 2009.

The Tour de Burgos is a yearly friendly bike race held by MCC in celebration of Bgy. Burgos' fiesta.

This year's race will be held in a rice field in Bgy. Burgos, Rodriguez (formerly Montalban), Rizal. Although a large part of the course will be on a dry paddy field, there will be some drops and ascents (see photos below).

There will be four categories to contend in: Beginners, All MCC, Class B and Class C. The course for beginners will be different (shorter) than for that of categories Class B and Class C.

Top three (3) winners for each category will be awarded cash and trophy. Fourth to tenth placers will be recognized with medals.

The Orange Course will be the route to be followed by Beginners category. The Gree Course will be the one used by Class B and Class C categories.
