MCC pedals to Baguio!

Last Holy Week 2009, 30 members of the Montalban Cycling Club reached Baguio pedaling. This is a cycling dream-come-true to many of us. We trained for three months for this climb, and we were jubilant when we were able to reach Baguio using pedal-power only, our preparations paying off. This Baguio ride is one great feat for our group.

On Thursday, April 9, we biked from Montalban, Rizal to Rosario, La Union, at the foot of Baguio. We started at 4AM, breakfasted at Angeles, Pampanga at 8AM, lunched at Sison, Pangasinan at 12:30PM, and finally reached our first stop at 5PM. We travelled more than 230 km for Day 1.

We climbed Baguio at 5:30AM the next day, stopping at the Lion Head for photos. We reached Baguio at around 10AM. We shopped before going down again. Most of us rode the bus to Binmaley, Pangasinan in the afternoon, more to be sure that we reach our stop for Day 2 before night falls.

Though we rested on Saturday to recover our strength, most of our group went back to Montalban with our SAG vehicle. On Sunday, 12 of us travelled back to Montalban still on bike.

Many were able to join this great ride because we were able to subsidize our expenses, drawing on sponsorship (thank you, Lady Lynn Catering), and funds earned from our activities.

We would also like to thank Mr. and Mrs. A. Rebosa of Rosario, La Union, Mr. E. Bambao of Baguio City, and Mr. R. Abad of Binmaley, Pangasinan, for accomodating us in their homes.
